We are the 24/7 entertainment news digital arm of the long-running, Emmy Award-winning syndicated TV series Entertainment Tonight. ETonline is a top three entertainment news network online, according to comScore.
We’re looking for a skilled, pop culture-obsessed writer to produce digital content including but not limited to news articles, listicles and deep-dives for ETonline.com. We need someone with their finger on the pulse of what's trending in entertainment news in order to turn it around and create relevant, engaging pieces. Someone who understands that celebrities on the mobile screen (YouTube! Instagram) are just as important as celebrities on the big screen (Movies! TV!). Someone to take breaking news or ET’s exclusive interviews and turn them into internet gold. So, if you’re that writer with an eye for trending topics, superb attention to detail and who thrives in a fast-paced environment, now’s your time!
This position is based in-office in Burbank, Calif. This team member would work Tuesday-Saturday from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m.
Write 5-10 engaging stories daily based on breaking news, exclusive interviews and more
Pitch articles according to relevant storylines trending across the web
Innovate and pitch coverage of internet culture in a way that fits ETonline.com
Quickly develop an understanding of what fits into ET’s brand while also looking for opportunities to cover untapped markets
Maintain consistent brand tone and style in copy
Make fast, accurate choices to ensure your stories are engaging and polished
Available for occasional work on weekends or as backfill on the day shift
Cover breaking news and the tentpole events of the year in the entertainment industry: awards season, summer movie season and fall TV premiere season
Additional other duties and responsibilities as assigned
What you bring to the team:
You have -
2+ years of writing and journalism experience in a digital newsroom
The skill level to produce sparkling clean copy and the confidence to self-publish at times
A grasp of journalistic style and ethics
A fast learner ready to jump into the news
Someone who can multitask and is able to reprioritize duties based on breaking news
Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience
Experience working and editing in CMS systems
A love of pop culture and the ability to thrive in an environment that requires both speed and accuracy
