Role Details:

We are looking for a team member who thrives in a fast-paced, dynamic work environment with an emphasis on mobile programming. We want someone to drive the voice and pace of the CBS Sports app’s alerts, with a goal of producing a better user experience for smarter sports fans. The ideal candidate is smart, creative, competitive and motivated by both business goals

and the quality of the product. This person will set the tone for our alerts team moving forward.

Your Day-to-Day:

  • Help identify what is relevant and important to our audience

  • Lead our efforts in the alerts and notification space across platforms, both in sending alerts and working with other alert editors to improve the team

  • Assist in editing stories and making news decisions for and the app

Key Projects:

  • Help develop audience acquisition and audience development strategies around our mobile apps

  • Establish best practices for the voice and display of our mobile alerts

  • Drive awareness and audience to CBS Sports HQ and the live game rights available in the CBS Sports app and on the site


What you bring to the team:

You have -

  • Bachelor’s degree in journalism or a communications-related field (or equivalent training & experience)

  • Minimum 5 years working in a journalism-related field

  • Experience working with Content Management Systems

  • Experience working in mobile alerts or social media

  • Fine-tuned copy-editing and writing skills

  • Demonstrated ability for strategic editorial thinking

You might also have -

  • A strong portfolio of prior work in a similar field

  • Video production or programming experience

  • Schedule flexibility and the ability to work some nights and weekends
