KTVT/CBSN-DFW is looking for a dynamic, creative Digital Executive Producer. This is a hands-on management position working directly on CBSN-DFW’s local live streaming network while managing a nimble team of Producers and Associate Producers. This role requires close coordination with KTVT News Director, CBS DFW Executive Director of Digital Media and News Managers.
The ideal candidate will be a self-starter and a solutions-oriented manager. Candidate will have the skills to excel in a fast-paced multi-platform media environment. The ideal candidate has a strong social media background, is adept at handling breaking news and performs well under deadline pressures. Must have a clear vision of how to build engaging content in the digital space. This includes story development, script approvals, graphics, animations, pre-productions from inception to completion.
The Digital Executive Producer position requires a person with a clear understanding of journalism process and ethics and one who will take part in daily editorial meetings. Candidate must possess excellent writing and proofing skills, knowledge of online trends and social media platforms.
Candidate should have advanced non-linear editing experience.
The DEP takes on many responsibilities including directing a team that will write headlines, maximize SEO and shareability; and work with video editors and social media team to edit and publish video on all digital platforms as needed. The DEP will be expected to also participate in these above responsibilities on a day to day basis.
Experience as a News Manager preferred with at least two of those years in a medium or large market. Bachelor’s or technical degree in Broadcast Journalism, Communications or allied field preferred.
Managing in a team environment with the ability to lead and inspire, especially by example.
Training team members to work accurately, responsibly and with a sense of urgency in a calm yet driven manner while focused on the task at hand.
Demonstrating expertise in timing in a control room environment.
Coding/stacking rundown content at the direction of the show producers with regard to video, graphics, scripts and other elements.
Anticipating the needs with regard to video, graphics, scripts and other elements while also taking direction from senior producers.
Coordinating with the senior and line producers during live news programs.
Building show rundowns for each hour of online content.
2+ years experience in creating and building show rundowns in media, cable, broadcast or digital environment.
Demonstrated success operating in a fast-paced control room.
Ability to work under extremely tight deadlines to write headlines and edit video for live digital broadcast.
Thorough knowledge of social media and the competitive digital news environment.
Familiarity with nonlinear editing systems.
Available for early mornings, nights, overnights, weekends, holidays; this is a 24-hour streaming service.
Experience with Crispin and iNews a big plus.
Understanding of SEO.
