The CBS This Morning Broadcast Associate works alongside the shows Associate Producers and Producers in newsgathering, fact checking, securing video footage, tracking data sources and editing tape pieces overnight. This will include gathering elements (photos, video, breaking news statements), researching stories thoroughly, writing scripts, overseeing package edits, coordinating with rights and clearances, communicating with our legal and standards teams, logging interviews, picking interview bites, and updating anchor introductions or tape pieces with new information overnight.
Because of the varied nature of the content within our two hour broadcast, the Broadcast Associate role encompasses a diverse set of assignments and responsibilities. The ideal candidate is a team player with exceptional organizational skills, is detail-oriented, and has the ability to both multi-task and keep a calm head under pressure while maintaining a positive attitude.
Additional responsibilities include:
Reviewing and coordinating copy and scripts
Gathering elements for taped pieces
Collaborating with correspondents/producers in various bureaus to confirm stories for air
Managing travel and transportation arrangements for CBS This Morning on-air guests, talent, and crews
'-Internship or comparable experience working on a news broadcast
-Strong editorial sense and writing skills
-Able to work under pressure and under strict deadlines
-Bachelor’s in Communications or related discipline
-Strong communication (written and verbal) and organizational skills
-An interest in journalism
