Job description

The Digital Associate Producer will write, produce and edit original content to appear on CBS Evening News’ social media platforms, including Facebook, Twitter and Instagram. This includes crafting compelling and accurate copy for show-branded accounts throughout the day, often serving as the front line for CBS News breaking news updates. The digital AP will collaborate with other members of the digital team to promote and distribute stories from the broadcast, and can expect to be in frequent communication with producers, senior producers and our executive producer. The role also requires expedient and through social media newsgathering in breaking news and developing situations. The candidate must be able to confidently navigate a fast-paced newsroom while working on multiple projects and requests.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Skills required

  • Prior experience at a major news organization (with social media management experience preferred)

  • Video and photo editing ability (Adobe PremierePro, Photoshop, Avid Newscutter)

  • Newswriting experience and familiarity with AP Stylebook guidelines

  • Understanding of social media publishing platforms and digital analytics tools

  • Proven news instincts and sharp editorial judgment

  • Creative self-starter with a strong work ethic

  • Ability to balance multiple projects and prioritize duties under deadline

  • A working knowledge of news ethics and best practices

  • Detail-oriented

  • Excellent communication skills and adaptable team player#LI-LB1
