The Director of RF and Transmission Engineering position reports into the Operations and Engineering VP of Engineering.
Responsibilities include the design, integration and support for wireless microphones, communications, cameras, as well as microwave, satellite uplinks/downlinks, cable TV, including frequency coordination, project management, troubleshooting complex problems.
RF & Microwave equipment requirements for COE Studios, News, Sports and Entertainment. This person will work with studio personnel, developing equipment requirements, evaluation of equipment, submitting capital requests, procurement of equipment and installation of all RF and microwave equipment.
Knowledge of FCC rules and regulations regarding the operation of RF & microwave equipment is essential. Must be able to perform frequency coordination within the New York City based CBS facilities as well as for major News, Sports and Entertainment events.
Trouble shoot systems when problems occur as well as educate maintenance procedures & troubleshooting skills to technicians.
Provide support to cable TV projects from project development, to design, procurement of equipment, installation and maintenance. Knowledge of IPTV systems for next generation TV monitoring is a plus.
Work with clients on satellite transmission, communication requirements to design RF systems, including procurement, integration and implementation.
Provide electrical and mechanical maintenance support and troubleshooting assistance for all of the satellite antennas on the roofs of the Broadcast Center, 555 West 57th Street and CBS Black Rock.
Coordinate the location of all satellite and terrestrial antennas on various CBS rooftops.
Work with CBS Law & CBS Real Estate on technical requirements for new and renewing contracts including buildings, NYC rooftop rights and street conduits.
Work with cell phone vendors for the planning and installation of DAS system.
Provide support to CBS divisions and tenants on the design and installation of conference room electronic equipment for the purpose of video presentations.
BS in Electrical Engineering required
Must have 5+ years’ experience in the Broadcast field; both Production and Distribution
