CBS Corporation is seeking an Editor Program Practices to:
Review, screen and evaluate commercials (including scripts, storyboards and productions) to ensure compliance with the CBS advertising and program policies, guidelines and standards.
Communicate, in writing and by phone, with CBS Sales, with other areas of CBS, ad agencies and producers on commercial issues (including status of commercials, requests for substantiation and negotiations for revisions in audio/visual segments).
Report to and consult with the SVP concerning questionable broadcast material elements.
Notify, in writing and verbally, other departments of special elements which are likely to impact those areas.
Consult with the Research Department on testing sent in support of commercial claims. Where appropriate, consult with the CBS Law Department on legal issues raised by broadcast material (e.g.: FCC regulations, indecency, trade libel, etc.).
Work as part of the delay function team for live entertainment programming, to help ensure that the content complies with CBS standards.
Heavy email and phone contact with clients, producers and viewers.
If assigned, travel to locations to view broadcast events, run-throughs, tapings and screenings.
1-3 years of related work experience required.
Possess excellent communication (both written and verbal), editorial and proof-reading skills.
Skilled at negotiation and persuasion; must be able to articulate issues with tact and diplomacy.
Willing to take on assignments on short notice and to work on weekends, nights or holidays when necessary.
Knowledge of film, television and/or commercial practices and techniques.
Must be able to stay calm under significant pressure and take initiative and defuse crises immediately.
Highly organized and able to prioritize assignments in a deadline driven environment.
Commercial clearance/standards and practices work experience in the television, cable or advertising industry is highly preferred. Bachelor degree; English, Law or Communication majors.
