We are currently seeking an eager and exceptional Financial Analyst for the CBS News, Hard News division. The role will report into the FP&A Manager - Hard News. This is a great entry-level position for a candidate looking to get a broad overview of corporate finance. This person will be responsible for the administration of various tasks about the day-to-day administration, monthly forecasting, and annual planning cycles, as well as ad hoc analysis and accounting. The ideal candidate is well organized, solution-oriented, and able to take initiative.
Analyze current and past financial data and performance
Identify trends in financial performance and provide recommendations for improvement
Collaborate with the Hard News team on the monthly forecast and assist in development and preparation of the annual budget and long-range financial plan
Provide financial models and forecasting for Hard News departments and broadcasts
Prepare monthly budget performance reports for Hard News departments and broadcasts
Assist with the Weekly Bureau cost accounting and management
Assist with the monthly close process by organizing supporting documents for journal entries
We believe the right individual will have the following skills and experience to be successful in the role:
Bachelor's degree or the equivalent required
2+ for years of experience with news coverage, cost accounting and/or financial planning
Proficient in Microsoft Office applications, including Excel and PowerPoint
Strong PC skills with excellent competence in the use of MS Office,
Knowledge of ERP systems and related technologies
Ability to work in a team environment while working independently on multiple tasks
Intellectual curiosity, desire to learn about all aspects of hard news finance
