DESCRIPTION:

This is a temporary position beginning Dec 1, 2019 and continuing through the end of November, 2020.

This person will assist the CBS Decision Desk team in preparation for their work covering the 2020 elections. Duties include helping evaluate computer models and systems, preparing and formatting database files, number-checking, locating and gathering state- and county-specific information and records, and assistance with data analysis including charts and maps throughout the fall campaign season. There may be opportunities to assist in producing materials and content for distribution.

This is a temporary per-diem position in New York City at the CBS News Broadcast Center. There may be an opportunity to arrange some flexibility in hours and/or telecommuting, or intermittently working from the CBS News Bureau in Washington, DC, but the successful candidate is expected to be available at the New York Broadcast Center during the Election season and during all election events.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Requirements: Demonstrated, detailed knowledge of U.S. elections and elections procedures, and/or some graduate-level education in political science and voting behavior; ability to work under tight deadlines; experience using statistical software and facility with basic statistical methods is a strong plus; ability to manage databases; demonstrated ability to produce election analyses is a strong plus.
