DESCRIPTION:

As a Producer on the Foreign Desk, you will be responsible for monitoring developments around the world, making sure the various CBS News platforms are aware of those that are of editorial importance, gathering the elements to cover those events and providing logistical and editorial assistance to CBS News crews in the field. You will have working knowledge of the various foreign news video sources (agencies etc.) as well as of social media conventions along with a sound grasp of internal terminology. You will be a strong solo contributor with desk experience, and a demonstrated ability to direct others in their assignments.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Requirements:

  • Strong editorial sense and understanding of what stories will be of interest to a US TV audience

  • Solid understanding of foreign video sources

  • Familiarity with social media and it’s use in news coverage

  • Solid technical understanding of booking live shots, satellite time, satellite trucks and camera crews

  • Ability to handle logistics and shoot under tight deadlines when necessary

Qualifications:

  • 5+ years’ experience working in a deadline driven, news environment

  • Highly developed relationship building skills;

  • Ability to work independently and direct others

  • Ability to travel and work weekends on short notice when necessary

  • College degree in broadcast journalism, history, or political science strongly preferred

  • Additional language besides English desirable
