As a Producer with Special Events you will work closely with the Executive Producer, Senior Broadcast Producer and the entire team planning and producing all major news events and breaking news coverage for CBS News. The candidate will be required to work with the Senior Broadcast Producer to build a rundown for major news events, line produce in the control room, oversee video and graphic elements and prepare correspondents for live segments. Additional duties for the Special Events Producer will include preparing editorial information and coordinating logistics for various projects.

This producer will have a particular focus on graphics. They will be overseeing a new team of graphics producers, new software and machines. The position will be necessary to coordinate and manage our new system. It will be critical in the editorial execution of all election year graphics. They will also monitor and manage on-air graphic elements before going to air in breaking news situations.

A producer will be able to share the burden in the control room by creating rundowns, pulling elements, creating graphics, isolating sots we need. This person will also take on research and help in planning for the bigger events coming this year and in the future.



  • 5+ years producing experience in a professional newsroom.

  • Must have strong news judgment and experience with breaking news.

  • Thrives in high-pressure and time-critical situations. Must be able to multi-task.

  • Strong control room experience with a network or cable news program.

  • Position requires a high level of competency in writing with experience in quickly reviewing and revising scripts and rundowns.

  • Must be a team player with a positive attitude and available to work weekends on short notice when necessary.
