With our recent rights acquisition of the UEFA Champions League, CBS Sports is seeking a candidate to lead our social media coverage of soccer. The ideal candidate will be fluent in the language of European football. Further, they will understand best practices of Instagram, Twitter, YouTube, and TikTok, as demonstrated by their portfolio of work. They must understand the most effective strategies on these platforms and be equipped to create content (i.e. videos, graphics, photoshops, memes) that best play to each platform’s audience.
The candidate will work in partnership with the production and editorial teams at CBS Sports to run these accounts. They must have the proven ability to identify trending stories, format them for social platforms, and use them to engage our audiences.
The Social Media Manager will run point on all soccer-related accounts at CBS Sports. In addition to covering Champions League, Europa League, and NWSL matches on CBS platforms, they will be responsible for covering significant non-CBS matches from European leagues (e.g. Premier League, Serie A, Bundesliga, La Liga, etc.) and important breaking news in the soccer world.
Establish voice and strategy for CBS’ soccer social accounts
Post live social content from UEFA Champions League matches and studio programming
Come up with original creative concepts in reaction to ongoing social conversation in European football
Build and execute social plans to effectively promote CBS’ marquee soccer properties (e.g. UCL, UEL, NWSL)
Create social pieces using Adobe Programs such as Photoshop and Premiere Pro
Manage and develop daily posts for CBS’ soccer accounts across Instagram, YouTube, TikTok, and Twitter
Track and provide regular performance updates on follower & engagement growth of our soccer social accounts
Communicate with peers in Marketing, Programming, Production, and Editorial teams to support their priorities through our social accounts
Coordinate with CBS soccer talent to produce/post video to our social accounts
Work with social designers and video editors to build editorial and promotional content from scratch
What you bring to the team:
You have -
5 years relevant experience managing branded social media accounts
Familiarity with and passion for soccer, especially European leagues
Willingness to adapt working schedule to cover primetime soccer matches, often on nights and weekends
Ability to work under extremely fast turnaround times
Grasp of Adobe Photoshop and Premiere with a hunger to improve your craft
