CBS Television Stations consists of 29 owned-and-operated stations, including 16 that are part of the CBS Television Network, eight affiliates of The CW Network, three independent stations and two MyNetworkTV affiliates. Among its stations are WCBS-TV and WLNY-TV (New York), KCBS-TV and KCAL-TV (Los Angeles), WBBM-TV (Chicago), KYW-TV and WPSG-TV (Philadelphia), KTVT-TV and KTXA-TV (Dallas-Ft. Worth), KPIX-TV and KBCW-TV (San Francisco), WBZ-TV and WSBK-TV (Boston), WUPA-TV (Atlanta), WWJ-TV and WKBD-TV (Detroit), KSTW-TV (Seattle), WTOG-TV (Tampa-St. Petersburg), WCCO-TV (Minneapolis), KCNC-TV (Denver), WFOR-TV and WBFS-TV (Miami), KOVR-TV and KMAX-TV (Sacramento), KDKA-TV and WPCW-TV (Pittsburgh), WJZ-TV (Baltimore), as well as WCCO-TV’s satellite stations KCCO-TV (Alexandria, Minn.) and KCCW-TV (Walker, Minn.).


CBS 3 is looking for a Managing Editor who will lead, develop and evolve news gathering in the Eyewitness News newsroom.

The Managing Editor will oversee the gathering of editorial content on a daily basis. This person will help drive key decisions on coverage and content using sound editorial judgment. They will oversee logistics, planning and substance of daily coverage and long-term projects - and have strong skills responding to breaking news. The Managing Editor will review reporter scripts and packages before air to insure accuracy, clarity and quality and provide constructive feedback. This person will maintain a professional manner, work well with the management team and staff and enforce company policies and standards. Will report to the News Director or Assistant News Director.


Candidate will have strong editorial and communication skills, problem-solving abilities and react well in high-pressure situations. Must exhibit strong and confident leadership, contribute to story ideas and development and be able to motivate and constructively critique employee performance. Must have a strong work ethic, and be willing to work flexible and sometimes long hours, including rotating weekends on call. The ideal candidate will have at least five years of experience, preferably in a top five market. Bachelor’s Degree in Journalism or related field is preferred. Knowledge and contacts in the Philadelphia market is a plus.
