CBS Television Stations consists of 29 owned-and-operated stations, including 16 that are part of the CBS Television Network, eight affiliates of The CW Network, three independent stations and two MyNetworkTV affiliates. Among its stations are WCBS-TV and WLNY-TV (New York), KCBS-TV and KCAL-TV (Los Angeles), WBBM-TV (Chicago), KYW-TV and WPSG-TV (Philadelphia), KTVT-TV and KTXA-TV (Dallas-Ft. DESCRIPTION:

KCBS2/KCAL9 Sports Department is looking for News Associates. This position initiates, coordinates and completes administrative projects as well as, provides administrative support to the Sports and department managers. If you have a proven track record of staying focus and organized within a fast-paced environment, we encourage you to apply. The ideal candidate will work in a daily local station putting together several sports broadcasts that run throughout each day.

Job Function:

This entry-level program is designed to identify outstanding aspiring journalists who are interested in pursuing a career in journalism and broadcasting and can bring a fresh and diverse insight to the areas of news production and news coverage. This program is not designed for people who wish to be on-air.

Primary responsibilities include conducting research, fact-checking, transcribing footage, running script, assisting on shoots, monitoring breaking news, pitching stories, attending planning and creative meetings and sourcing images and footage.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Required:

  • Bachelor’s Degree, preferably in Journalism, Broadcasting or Communications

  • Must be detail-oriented, and have strong knowledge in and of sports across all platforms

  • Must have the confidence to pitch story ideas to show producers

  • Must have the ability to work with all forms of television production and social media.

  • Ability to work weekends and holidays, evenings and mornings

Preferred:

  • Someone who lives and breathes sports, especially Los Angeles based teams.
