We are looking for a team member who thrives in a fast-paced, dynamic work environment. We want somebody who has a deep knowledge of college football and basketball, focused on writing for CBSSports.com. In this role, you play a key part in driving our coverage of the sports world at large.
Help identify what is relevant and important to our audience
Cover college football and college basketball with a focus on news, analysis, predictions, lists and reporting.
Contribute to the Cover 3 and Eye on College Basketball brands (podcast, newsletter, social) as needed
Forecast and anticipate trends in audience interest and consumption habits
Work on fueling the daily video content efforts on CBS Sports HQ and publication of stories on CBSSports.com
Write features that can range from fun and quirky to deeply analytical to informative
Create lists, grades, rankings and other core pieces for CBSSports.com’s in-depth coverage of college football and college basketball
Appear on radio, podcasts and video as needed to discuss college football and college basketball
What you bring to the team:
You have -
Bachelor’s degree in journalism or a communications-related field (or equivalent training & experience)
Minimum 2 years working in a journalism-related field
Experience working with Content Management Systems
Experience working with Photoshop or similar programs preferred
You might also have -
A strong portfolio of prior work in a similar field
Developed contacts within the college sports community
Demonstrated ability for strategic editorial thinking
Schedule flexibility and the ability to work weekends, particularly during the college football season and the spring
