Scribner is currently seeking a Director of Marketing, reporting in to Brian Belfiglio, head of marketing and publicity. Our team is a dynamic, diverse, creative group committed to our authors and to publishing their books for maximum impact. Scribner publishes a range of bestselling and award-winning fiction and non-fiction from authors including: Jesmyn Ward (two time winner of the National Book Award); Pulitzer Prize winners Anthony Doerr (All The Light We Cannot See) and Siddhartha Mukherjee (Emperor of all Maladies); The Washington Post’s The Mueller Report; Angela Duckworth (Grit); Kiese Layman (Heavy); Mary Beth Keane (Ask Again, Yes); Andrew Solomon, Colm Toibin, SC Gwynne, The Joy of Cooking and Stephen King.

We are looking for someone with 6-8 years’ experience in book marketing who has a proven record of creating successful traditional and innovative campaigns for both fiction and non-fiction titles in hard cover, ebook and paperback formulas and who can be a strong leader of our marketing team. This role will report in to the head of marketing and publicity.


Responsibilities & Strengths

  • A creative and collaborative team player who can work with publicity and editorial to build campaigns from pre-publication, on-sale, through post-publication for approximately 70 titles a year

  • Strong leadership and management skills

  • Ability to create cohesive year-long campaigns for our branded authors from hardcover pre-publication to paperback publication

  • Ability to create third party partnerships to expand a title’s marketing and sales opportunities

  • Ability to work across divisions and with corporate marketing to maximize opportunities for our books

  • Strong relationships with Goodreads, Shelf Awareness and key booksellers.

  • In coordination with the head of marketing and publicity, oversee and support marketing team members

  • Strong knowledge of social media marketing opportunities

  • Comfortable presenting in meetings

  • Excellent writing skills

  • Strong project management, communication, budget management, organizational skills, and a keen sense of humor are all necessary
